Burial expense assistance may be available to you. Here are some of the programs in Idaho.
Social Security Administration-
Anyone receiving social security is entitled to a burial benefit of $255. The benefit is only paid to a surviving spouse or to surviving children under the age of 18. Contact the Social Security Administration office for details.
Veterans Administration-
The veterans administration pays some burial expenses for eligible veterans. To be eligible for burial benefits, the veteran must be in receipt of VA benefits at the time of death or must have died from a service related condition. Contact the Veterans Administration office for details.
County Indigent Fund Offices-
Burial expense assistance may be available if you live in Ada, Canyon or Payette counties. Contact the appropriate County Indigent Fund office for details.
