Adaptive Activities for the Disabled 3/23/2010
There are many activity opportunities for people with disabilities in Idaho. Below is a list of some of those activities and some of the resource organizations who also have referrals for adaptive activities. Most organizations listed offer adaptive activities for people throughout the state of Idaho, but some activities are location specific. Please take note of the service area.
ADA Task Force
- For: Adults and Children with disabilities.
- Offering: Technical Assistance, training, and information materials on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for business, employees, local governments, and people with disabilities. Fees: Contact for fees.

Adventure Island Playground
- For: Children with any physical and mental disabilities
- Offering: A universally accessible playground featuring ramp accessibility, play panels at ground level, and surfacing that walkers and wheelchairs can easily ride over. Fees: Free

AdVenture Program – Boise Parks and Recreation
- For: Adults and Children with any physical and mental disabilities
- Offering: adapted equipment, trained staff, experienced volunteers, social interaction, specialty programs all year round. Also sponsoring the Idaho Youth Wheelchair Sports Camp. Fees: Contact for fees. Scholarships available.

- For: Adults and Children with arthritis.
- Offering: Information on arthritis, doctor referral list, a magazine, support groups, self help classes, videos and exercise classes. Fees: Contact for fees.

Brain Injury Assoc. Of Idaho
- For: Adults and Children with brain injuries.
- Offering: awareness, understanding and prevention of brain injury acquired after birth throughout lifespan through education, advocacy and support. Broad educational library.
- Support, information & resources provided via phone. Educational and resource information mailed at no charge. Fees: No fee.

Idaho Assistive Technology Project
- For: Adults and Children with disabilities who need help in obtaining the assistive technology they need to live more independent and productive lives.
- Offering: assessment services, information and referral, training, a low interest loan program , and recycling of used equipment. The IATP maintains a state-wide information and referral program that identify agencies, support services, funding options and other resources related to assistive technology. These resources are available to help persons with disabilities, their families and service providers in the selection, acquisition or use of assistive technology devices. Fees: Contact for fees.

- For: Adults and Children who are blind or visually impaired.

- Offering: Information and training is available to parents, families and communities, about Special Education and the availability of SSI and Medicaid benefits for children. Will assist parents with application process. IPUL has trained parents located in several communities throughout Idaho. Fees: No fees.
