Did you know?
- Every day in Idaho, 3 girls under the age of 18 become pregnant.
- Teen males only father 29% of babies born to teen mothers. 71% are fathered by adult males over 20 years old.
- 25% of teen mothers have a second child within 2 years of their first.
- 1/3 of pregnant teens receive inadequate prenatal care. Babies born to young mothers are more likely to be low-birth-weight, have childhood health problems, and be hospitalized than are those born to older mothers.
Life in the Fast Lane –
Life in the Fast Lane is an educational resource available to teens, their parents, and educators. Life in the Fast Lane explores the consequences of becoming a teen parent and provides information about teens, parenting, child support, and public assistance. The resource began as an educational video produced by Idaho Public TV for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare; featuring teens speaking about their experiences as teen parents.
