The Idaho Public Utilities Commission 6/2010

What is the Idaho Public Utilities Commission?
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) regulates investor owned companies who provide electric, natural gas, and wire-line (not wireless or cellular) local telecommunication services in Idaho. The IPUC helps utility customers understand their rights and responsibilities and is able to mediate rate or billing disputes between individuals and utility companies, if necessary. The commission insures that utility customers are treated fairly by utility companies. The commission does not regulate publicly owned, municipal, or cooperative utilities.

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission can help with issues including the quality and availability of utility services, rate design, and utility policies and practices that directly effect utility customers. For example, the IPUC helps utility customers understand deposit and disconnection guidelines and utility payment programs.
